Refresh Your Makeup & Skincare for Spring

Spring has been around Florida for some time now but I know my friends in other states are starting to feel the warmth! I love this time of year - trees blooming, new clothes to shop for, and fun makeup colors to try!

With that said, it’s the perfect time to spring clean your skincare & makeup drawers! Your skincare needs change with the weather and I know I’m guilty of holding onto expired products (whoops!). Here’s 5 fast and easy ways to refresh your makeup & skincare for the spring!

1. Check expiration dates

Did you know most products have a little graphic on them saying how good they are once open? It looks like a little canister with an open lid and may say “12 mo” by it; meaning good for 12 months. It’s good to toss stuff that’s past its’ prime because you risk breakouts or bacterial infections. Be especially diligent on throwing out products that are near the eye such as mascara which should be tossed after 3 months! Check last year’s sunscreen and your daily moisturizer as well!

2. Wash your brushes

This one is so hard for me to remember to do, but once I do, I see how much gunk lives in my brushes! If you use your brushes every day, you should be washing them every week. I use Beautycounter Charcoal bar to wash mine and lay them out on a washcloth to dry.

3. Reorganize

Just like you spring clean your house and closet, now do it with your skincare and makeup. Throw out those expired products, get some new clear bins from Target (Home Edit style:) Make it fun! How can you give your cabinet, drawer, or closet a redo?!

4. Check your sunscreen

Obviously you should toss your SPF if it’s expired, but even if it’s not, spring is a great excuse to upgrade your sunscreen. We go through sunscreen a lot of sunscreen with 6 people and living in Florida. Check your old sunscreen and replace it! I’m partial to this one.

5. Go for Bright & Bronze!

The winter is often when we see deep reds, cranberries and matte looks. Switch it up for spring with bright polishes, bronzer and a pink lip color. I love Beautycounter’s Beyond Gloss, which comes in an assortment of colors and feels nourishing on my lips.

There you have it! Now you’re on your way to refreshed products for the spring! I love to choose clean products where I can so Beautycounter is my go to. Let me know if you’d like to try a sample of something or if I can recommend a product!
