How moving across the country in a pandemic while solo parenting didn’t cause me to gain the Covid 19
If you are wondering where I have been lately, well let me tell you a story. Do you have 10 hours to spare? Just kidding…..but really though. I don’t recommend moving across the country with 4 kids and a cat, while solo parenting through a pandemic at all!! We planned everything out so the kids could start school right after spring break in Florida, but we did NOT plan for a global pandemic. I say we, because hubby was very much involved but he left early to set up our new place and get settled in Florida.
However, I had to pack up, sell or donate everything all while getting kids registered for a new school I had never been to, ordering furniture and all the things for an apartment I had never seen in person, selling a house in California and trying to line up at least a gym instructor gig before I got to Florida. Little did I know, everything would go crap and I’d be STRESSED to the max trying to hold it all together for my kids. Complete disaster! You know the kind where they send in the world’s best oil drilling team to save the planet disaster. Maybe not that dramatic, but you get the point.
Moving to a town where I barely knew anyone, not being able to work out like I was used to, being stuck inside for safety (can’t make new friends), suddenly becoming a teacher, and trying to learn a new area is enough to make anyone break. I was having to teach my kids math I can’t remember, chatting with teachers I have never met and trying to help my kids navigate this new school knowing they weren’t going to meet any of their classmates was completely devastating. It was A LOT! I know everyone has their own story and struggles through this time, and no one will blame you for how you dealt with it all. For me, I am so thankful I continued to make my health and wellness a priority.
I had all the reasons to “throw in the towel” and blame it on the pandemic or the thousand things going on in my life, but I knew that would not help me reach my goals or make me feel better. Sure I ate snacks and was not as diligent in tracking my macros, BUT I didn’t let that sabotage my mind, body or soul! I used this time to focus on my family, fitness, faith and my mindset. I used that and combined it with my amazing online community for accountability and my friends (thank you ZOOM girls’ night) to help me navigate it all and found myself on the other side. I am stronger (mentally for sure), more confident and not concerned about gaining the Covid 19.
Stress can be the reason your health is suffering, but it can also be the reason you are thriving. I would love to help you make your health and wellness a priority and truly find YOU!
